We envision a world where every people group has:
With God’s help and guidance, and for His glory, Damascus Road propels efforts to evangelize unreached people groups.
Our Values
Damascus Road is committed to prayer, consulting God’s Word, and actively listening to the Holy Spirit and the wise counsel of others.
We believe in faith-driven, purposeful risk-taking to fund innovative projects reaching people with the gospel.
Combining strategy and humility, we are always pursuing improvements to most effectively steward the assets entrusted to us.
Our Beginnings:
Stu Lang’s story
I became a follower of Jesus in 1974 during a pre-game chapel in my first season with the Edmonton CFL football team, where I was led to Christ by a member of Power to Change. Through Athletes in Action, I was discipled in evangelism and spent my off-seasons traveling across Canada with other CFL players, sharing our faith in schools and churches. During this time, God gave me a deep and lasting passion for evangelism.
Romans 5:8 became my life verse, shaping my conviction that God’s gracious love must be shared. Like Paul, I feel compelled to proclaim the Gospel (1 Corinthians 9:16). I was born into significant privilege and came to believe that “to whom much is given, much is required” (Luke 12:48). The resources and opportunities God entrusted to me demanded a faithful and accountable response.
Over time, God blessed me financially in ways I never expected or deserved, leading me to see myself as His steward—“God’s banker.” I became convinced that God was willing to take bold risks with these resources to reach unreached and unengaged people groups, prioritizing gospel access for those who have never heard. As I once learned, it is not fair for someone to hear the Gospel twice while others have not heard it once.
We want to see Believers, a Bible, a Body, and a Blueprint among every people group.
Out of this conviction, God led me to establish the Damascus Road Foundation—named for the site of history’s most dramatic conversion and the calling of the Church’s greatest missionary. The Foundation exists to help ensure that every person, everywhere, has the opportunity to encounter the risen Christ.
Behind the Name “Damascus Road”
After Jesus ascended into heaven, Christianity was growing like wildfire. Devout Jews set out to quench the rebellion at any cost. One of the most violent and zealous of the persecutors was Saul of Tarsus. Christians feared his name as he went from city to city taking down followers of “the Way.”
But, in his grace, God changed Saul’s world, and marked Christianity forever. One day, as he travelled the road to Damascus, where he intended to round up Christians for imprisonment, a blindingly bright light startled Saul, the Lord spoke to him, changed his heart, gave him a new name (Paul), and commissioned him to join the Way that he had so passionately fought against.
Paul went on to become one of the most significant early evangelists, committed to preaching “where Christ was not known” (Romans 15:20), and writing much of the New Testament.
Today, the same Good News that turned Saul’s life around, is still changing lives. Jesus is alive and no other good news could ever compare!
We take inspiration from Paul’s story, and support those who follow in Paul’s footsteps as evangelists and church planters to the least reached.
