Leo is a Bible translator in Mainland Asia. This year, after the translation of some oral Bible studies in his mother tongue was complete, he gathered members of his local community to evaluate both comprehension and the accuracy of language and terminology used.
Most community test participants are unfamiliar with the Christian message, making these sessions a remarkable opportunity to share the good news of Scripture. Even among the test group, the oral stories have been impactful. One man began listening to the stories with his colleagues while they worked. Another retold the stories to his children at home.
Leo reports that, with access to the stories, a local group of 6 or 7 people who gather on Saturdays for Christian fellowship can now listen to the stories in their own language. The group reflects on the Word, engages in discussions, and learns together.
He writes that, “Through these stories, we have been able to share the Good News of God with people in our village—something that would have been more difficult before.”
In fact, after hearing the good news through the stories, two individuals have been delivered from alcohol addiction, and conflicts within their families have decreased. Two others have even come forward to receive prayer for healing! While they have not openly professed faith, we can see that a small seed of belief in God has been planted in their hearts.
As people engage with these translated Scripture stories, a deeper transformation is often taking place. Many who later share their testimonies describe living in constant fear of spirits before turning to Jesus. Yet after confessing Him as Lord, that fear disappears, often immediately. This newfound freedom is one of the most common and striking changes among new believers in the region.
Leo’s testimony is a glimpse of what’s happening across this mountainous region of Asia—where each story told in a mother tongue becomes a spark of hope. Through the courage of local storytellers and translators like Leo, God’s Word is steadily transforming hearts in a region where open evangelism is impossible.
